Special Guests at GCT

On April 6th, we welcomed the LAUSD Arts Education Branch and Arts Advisory Council to Greenway Court Theatre for our student listening session to hear the voices of LAUSD students about Arts Education. At this event, students had the opportunity to speak up about the arts education programs in their schools and advocate for more adequate resources.

A Busy Month for Greenway Fairfax Dance Company!

On April 9th, Greenway Fairfax Dance Company performed at Fairfax High School’s school-wide Spring Pep Rally. Their performance featured two choreographed hip-hop dances to “America Has A Problem” by Beyonce and “Squabble Up” by Kendrick Lamar. As expected, the crowd loved their performances and the Fairfax school spirit was raised.

Greenway Fairfax Dance Company has been hard at work as they’ve spent this month preparing for their upcoming spring dance concert titled “Poetry In Motion” in May. They’ve engaged in lots of after school practices and have been doing many runthroughs of the show for technical rehearsals here at Greenway Court Theatre.

Welcome New Student Staff!

On Sunday, May 4, we introduced eleven new student workers to the Melrose Trading Post student staff. The new student hires received hands-on training in the market from the operations team and got to meet the team captains, many of whom are Fairfax alumni and former student staff!

Salsa Residency

On Cinco De Mayo, Greenway Institute for the Arts collaborated with Mr. Burciaga’s Spanish Language courses for a Salsa Dance Residency at Greenway Court Theatre! As enrichment, Fairfax students got to learn foundational salsa moves and practiced dancing with a partner.
